US State Department urges India & Pakistan to ‘improve communications’

The US State Department has issued an urgent message to India and Pakistan after Indian troops reportedly fired across the Line of Control in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

US State Department spokesman John Kirby said: “An attack [such as this] escalates tensions… Our message to both sides is the same, to encourage them to increase communication to deal with this threat and avoid steps that escalates the tension.”
